Alex Crisses is a managing director at Insight and focuses on infrastructure software and internet investments. He has served on the Board of Directors of GFI Software, Ticket Monster, TeamViewer, 6Waves LOLapps, and Jagex Limited. Alex also invests in online gaming and "freemium" software companies. Alex sourced and worked with Solarwinds Inc.,  from Insight's initial investment all the way to Solarwind's IPO (NASDAQ: SWI). Alex also sourced and led Insight's investments in GFI Software and TeamViewer where he oversaw the merger of the two companies and spearheaded the acquisition of Hounddog Technologies to create GFI Max. Alex was also involved in the acquisitions of both ScriptLogic Corporation and Imceda Software by Quest Software. Additionally, he led the firm's investment in group-buying company Ticket Monster which, at the time of acquisition by Living Social, was the leader in Korea. Alex has further played a significant role in Insight's investments in Nexon, CVent, Acronis, Parallels, and Wix.

Alex is a key mentor of new team members at Insight. He is part of the management team that oversees Insight's analyst recruiting and training program and assists with candidate selection and new employee on-boarding.

Prior to joining Insight, Alex worked as an investment banking Analyst with Credit Suisse First Boston's Global Energy and Power Group. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business with a BS in Economics, receiving the Dean's Award for Excellence. He earned an MBA with High Distinction from Harvard Business School where he graduated as a Baker Scholar. Alex resides in New York with his wife and daughter.

Deven Parekh is a managing director at Insight Venture Partners and joined the firm in 2000. Deven invests in e-commerce and internet companies globally, in addition to his investments in data and application software businesses. Notable previous companies in Deven's portfolio have included Football Fanatics (acquired by GSI Commerce, later acquired by eBay), Media Mind (IPO), Procuri (acquired by Ariba, NASDAQ: ARBA), Russian Trading System (merged with MICEX) and Website Pros (IPO). Deven is a strong supporter of inorganic growth, and, among others, has assisted ECi Solutions with eleven acquisitions, and Chegg with three. Deven is a global investor, actively working with investments in China, India and Russia.

Deven was previously a Principal at Berenson Minella & Company, a New York based merchant banking firm where he served on the firm's M&A Committee. Prior to Berenson Minella, Deven was with The Blackstone Group, where he was involved in both M&A advisory and principal activities.

Deven was part of a US delegation of several investors, government representatives and technology companies, that visited Russia to explore investment and technology collaboration opportunities between the United States and Russia. He is a Member of the Advisory Board of the U.S. Export-Import Bank which is the official export credit agency of the United States. He is also a Member of the Technical Advisory Council of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) which assists the Commission with developing informed technology policies supporting America's competitiveness and job creation in the global economy. In 2006, Deven was named a Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute, which seeks to develop the next generation of community-spirited leaders.

Deven received a BS in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Deven is Chairman of the Board of Publicolor, a New York City-based non-profit organization that uses color, collaboration, design and the painting process to re-engage disaffected students in their education, schools and communities.

Jeff Horing has been a co-founder and managing director at Insight Venture Partners since 1995. Prior to founding Insight, Jeff was a key member of the technology investing team at Warburg Pincus. Earlier in his career he worked at Goldman Sachs in the Capital Markets group.

Jeff holds an MBA from the M.I.T. Sloan School of Management. Larry Handen is a managing partner at Insight Venture Partners and has more than 20 years of experience in the software, Internet, and technology services industries as a principal investor, operator and consultant. Over the course of his career, Larry has been involved as a principal investor in over 125 M&A and equity financing transactions, and served on the Board of Directors of more than 30 companies throughout the Americas, Eastern and Western Europe and Australia.  Additionally, he has advised over 100 other companies in various capacities.

Michael Triplett is a managing partner and joined Insight in 1998. Mike focuses on investments in Infrastructure and Application Software companies; he has been instrumental in investments in more than twenty companies, many of which have achieved fast growth and realized significant value for shareholders and employees. Notable among these are the IPOs of Click Commerce, Solarwinds Inc., and Quest Software and the acquisitions of Aelita Software, Authorize.net, Imceda Software and ScriptLogic. Recently Mike has invested in several companies in Brazil, in addition to his investments in Europe and the United States.

Prior to joining Insight, Mike was an investment professional at Summit Partners, where he focused on investments in infrastructure and enterprise application software companies. Previously in his career, Mike worked as a financial analyst at Morgan Stanley & Co. and at Midland Data Systems.

Peter Sobiloff joined Insight Venture Partners as Managing Director in 1998, bringing to the firm 20 years of operational experience in executive leadership positions, sales management and worldwide operations.  Peter was President of Think Systems, an Insight portfolio company focused on supply chain management, which was acquired by i2 Technologies in 1997; thereafter Peter served as Vice President of Business Development at i2 Technologies.  Prior to this Peter was President of Datalogix, a vendor of enterprise application software for process manufacturers. He also held senior executive roles at Ross Systems, a provider of financial application software.  Peter was part of the management teams that executed IPOs for both companies. Subsequently, as President of Datalogix, Peter led the sale of Datalogix to Oracle corporation.

Peter is a well-known executive in the software industry and regularly speaks on industry panels.  He served as Chairman of Greenfield Online (NASDAQ: SRVY) for six years, including three years as a public company.   He was a member of the Board of Directors of Medidata Solutions (NASDAQ:  MDSO) for seven years, the final two as a public company.   He graduated from Baruch University with a degree in Business Administration.

In his role as investor, Peter specializes in mentoring management teams to foster technological change in existing markets in order to produce greater productivity and deliver incremental value to customers. Peter enjoys working to create successful liquidity events that positively change the lives of entrepreneurs and employees.

Richard Wells has over 12 years of experience in investing and advising managers of high growth software and Internet companies.  He currently serves on the boards of BeyondTrust, Enigma, HealthcareSource, Kinnser, Metalogix, PHD Virtual and Smartbear Software and is active with the boards of Buddy Media and Zumba Fitness.  Richard previously served on the boards of Netsmart Technologies (acquired by Genstar Capital) and Primavera (acquired by Oracle).

Richard joined Insight in 2005 after previously serving as an investment team member at Technology Crossover Ventures (TCV), with a focus on software, online media and e-commerce.  Richard also worked in product management for enterprise data protection products at Veritas Software (now part of Symantec), and in field sales for Paciolan Systems (now part of Ticketmaster).  He began his career as a management consultant with Mercer Management Consulting, where he advised global technology companies on their marketing and business strategies.

Richard received a BS from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania (Phi Beta Kappa, summa cum laude) and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.  He grew up in Southern California and resides in Manhattan with his wife and son.  Thanks to his father's New England roots, Richard is an avid Boston Red Sox fan and is already having a lot of fun making his son one too.

Hilary Gosher co-manages Insight Onsite, the firm’s team of operations and growth experts who provide hands-on operational assistance and advice to Insight’s portfolio companies. Hilary founded this team in 2000 and has worked alongside more than 60 software and Internet companies, advising on day-to-day strategy, operations and acquisitions. She is deeply involved in due diligence and is one of the firm’s experts in scaling application and infrastructure software, internet and data businesses. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of OverDrive Inc., Paymentez and IKANO and is a board observor to several other portfolio companies.

 

Hilary is an Adjunct Professor at NYU's Stern School of Business. She teaches Entreprenuership to MBA students and actively mentors start-ups in the technology economy. Together with Nikitas Koutoupes, she authored a chapter titled "Customer Lifetime Value: Methodology and Applications for Operating Partners", in "The Operating Partner in Private Equity", published by Private Equity International in 2011.

 

Prior to joining Insight, Hilary held management positions at The Monitor Group, where she consulted to companies in the healthcare, technology and infrastructure sectors. She also worked at Marketspace, an e-commerce affiliate focused on start-ups and online retail businesses. Earlier in her career Hilary held finance positions at Reuters UK, PLC and Sea Containers in London.

 

Hilary holds an MBA from INSEAD in France along with a BA in Economic History (first class pass) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), cum laude, from the University of Natal, South Africa. She speaks conversational Afrikaans and French.

Nikitas Koutoupes co-manages Insight Onsite, the firm’s team of dedicated operations and growth experts who provide hands-on assistance and advice to Insight’s portfolio companies. In addition to his investment  and Insight Onsite responsibilities, Nikitas is one of the firm’s experts in online and recurring revenue business models and leads Insight’s activities in the post-secondary education space: his most recent investments in education include Whitney International and Academic Partnerships.

Nikitas joined Insight in 2001. Prior to Insight, he co-founded and was the Chief Financial Officer of CTSpace, a software company which became part of Insight’s portfolio and was subsequently acquired by the Sword Group. He was previously with McKinsey & Company, where he worked on strategy, turnaround, M&A and corporate finance engagements across a variety of industries.  He also contributed to a major research initiative called “The War For Talent.”

Blair Flicker joined Insight in 2001 where he is a Managing Director and Insight's General Counsel. Blair manages all the legal aspects of Insight's contracts, intellectual property, deal and securities structuring, fund formation, mergers and acquisitions, and foreign entities.

Blair was previously a Vice President at Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation, the venture capital subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. His responsibilities included initiating, structuring and negotiating venture capital and other corporate equity investments in the medical device, biotech and e-health areas. He also served as a board member of six portfolio companies. Before joining Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation, Blair practiced law at Johnson & Johnson, handling mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, venture capital investments and various corporate finance matters. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Blair was an associate in the Washington, DC office of the law firm, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.

Mark Lessing joined Insight in 2000 and is currently a Managing Director and the Chief Financial Officer.

Mark serves on several of the firm’s executive committees and handles investor relations, including quarterly financial reporting, investor presentations, and communications to limited partners.  He was integral to the firm’s efforts in raising its last several investment funds (totaling approximately $2.0 billion in 2011, $1.3 billion in 2007 and $0.7 billion in 2005).  Additionally, Mark has been involved in the financial due diligence efforts on many of Insight’s investments since joining the firm in 2000. Subsequent to Insight’s investment in a company, Mark interacts with and supports the CFOs of Insight’s portfolio companies to help them negotiate with lenders, prepare board packages and financial reports, coordinate annual audits and evaluate the impact of new accounting rules.

Prior to joining Insight, Mark was a Vice President at Prudential Securities, where he was responsible for a wide range of financial functions, including assessing the firm's capital requirements, foreign exchange hedging and financial planning issues. Prior to that, Mark worked at J.P. Morgan, as part of the expense management team. Mark received a B.S. from Cornell University and an M.B.A. in Finance with a co-major in International Business from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business.

Ryan Hinkle joined Insight in 2003.  Ryan has worked across many industries, geographies and deal structures, spanning internet, e-commerce, infrastructure and application software companies in Europe, Australia and North America. Ryan's investments include growth equity, leverage buyouts, growth buyouts, and platform roll-ups. Ryan oversaw the investments and later acquisitions of Argus Software (acquired by Altus Group Ltd), Football Fanatics (acquired by GSI Commerce, now eBay) and Punch! Software (acquired by Navarre Corporation). Ryan works closely with the executive management of his investments and has stepped in as deputy-CFO on several occasions to help the teams. Ryan is also a key manager of the Analyst program at Insight with responsibility for recruiting, training, and mentoring.

Prior to Insight, Ryan began his journey as a lifelong technology enthusiast by developing real-time electricity trading productivity tools with PPL Corporation. Ryan also worked with Morgan Stanley where he observed trader behavior and built software tools to increase their efficiency.

Ryan is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with degrees in Finance from Wharton and Electrical Engineering from the School of Engineering and Applied Science.   Originally from rural southeastern Pennsylvania, he has spent the past 9 years living in New York City with his wife, Sara and his son.  In New York, they enjoy cycling, attending Broadway shows, experimenting with new restaurants, and exploring museums.  Ryan’s other interests include Philadelphia sports, HBO original series, meandering through his Twitter feeds, juggling, origami, and number theory.

Edward Delk joined Insight in 2009. He was previously Associate General Counsel at TIAA-CREF in New York and prior to that Principal at The Vanguard Group, Inc. in Pennsylvania. His responsibilities at TIAA-CREF and Vanguard included organizing and supporting the operation and regulatory compliance of mutual funds and hedge funds, representing advisers and funds before the SEC and the CFTC, preparing compliance policies and procedures, and negotiating advisory agreements, derivative contracts, operating agreements and other contracts. Prior to joining Vanguard, Edward practiced law at Clifford Chance Rogers & Wells LLP and Schulte, Roth & Zabel, LLP in New York. Martin received dual-degrees from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and its School of Engineering and Applied Science, graduating summa cum laude in Finance, Management, and Computer Science. He remains actively involved with the University as an alumnus. Nnamdi Okike joined Insight in 2002. He has extensive experience in the Internet and software industries as a principal investor, operator and consultant. He has worked closely with several current and former Insight portfolio companies, including Astaro (acquired by Sophos), Hitwise (acquired by Experian), DivX Networks, Privalia and Groupalia.

Nnamdi is an active investor in Brazil and has a strong interest in Brazilian entrepreneurship. He works closely with Insight’s Brazilian portfolio companies KaBum and Folhamatic.

Nnamdi previously worked in Business Development at Verne Global, an Internet data center company, and at Kayne Anderson Private Equity, a middle-market private equity fund. He began his career at the Boston Consulting Group as a management consultant.

As an investor, Nnamdi enjoys working with entrepreneurs who are pioneering innovative business models. He also takes pride in helping entrepreneurs achieve their business and life goals.

Nnamdi graduated with a dual JD/MBA from Harvard University, receiving his J.D. with cum laude Honors and his MBA with Second-Year Honors. Nnamdi received his BA degree, with Honors, also from Harvard University. He was a recipient of the John Harvard Scholarship. Daniel Chiou joined Insight in 2007. He has worked with many current and former Insight portfolio companies in across infrastructure, consumer and SaaS companies. Daniel has worked with SmartBear on budgeting, sales and channel management, in addition to M&A activities.  He was a key member of the team that worked with Football Fanatics prior to its acquisition by GSI Commerce (now eBay). Daniel currently works with OverDrive to understand new market opportunities and metrics management, as well as several other companies on M&A, international expansion, and lead generation.

Previously, Daniel was a management consultant at Bain & Company, where he advised companies on growth strategy, product development, and acquisitions. He worked with multinational clients from many industries, including private equity, semiconductors, and media and entertainment.

Daniel holds a B.S. in electrical engineering from Princeton University, graduating with Honors, Tau Beta Pi.

Prior to joining Insight, Rachel worked as an internal business and strategy consultant in American Express' corporate strategy group , where she evaluated business strategy and growth opportunities across all areas of the company.  Her strategy work included developing new business concepts, evaluating partnership opportunities, customer segmentation and technology planning.  She was also a Product Manager in the co-branded consumer credit card division responsible for new product and concept development, customer research and launch planning.

Steve Rabin joined Insight in 2003 and serves as Insight's CTO. Steve has over 20 years of experience designing enterprise-class software and managing technology teams. Prior to Insight, Steve was CTO/ VP of Engineering at InterWorld and American Software. He also served in several engineering management positions at Pfizer. Steve founded and sold two supply chain-focused software firms, Optimized Planning Systems and Productivity Systems.

At Insight, Steve's goal is to help technical teams build best-of-breed R&D organizations and enterprise-class solutions. Steve works on projects with technical teams across Insight's portfolio of companies, in all types of business and delivery models: SaaS-based, enterprise software, internet, e-commerce and subscription based companies who invariably are providing services in the cloud, mobile solutions, client-server and hosted solutions.  Among others, Steve's projects cover agile development, QA/continuous automation, R&D metrics, performance management, infrastructure/security planning, architecture, off-shoring, and effective R&D leadership. Since development requires continuous improvement, Steve also performs technical assessments using a blended Agile/CMMI model. The objective is to enable teams to identify and prioritize where to focus their efforts.

 

Steve  is active in industry standards groups, consortiums and conference boards in the areas of EAI topologies, transactional infrastructures, agile development practices, performance benchmarks and web services. He has published widely and is a regular contributor to industry blogs and publications. Steve hosts Insight's annual R&D Forum for senior technology leaders which brings portfolio company teams together to share best practices and learn about new development trends.
