Insight Ignite: Innovation Roundtable, Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix

In May, to coincide with the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix, Insight Ignite hosted 40 CIOs in Nice to discuss Secure Digital Transformation.

Senior-level decision makers participated in dialog about securing enterprise data, agile implications, implementing DevOps, and building an organization able to meet the demands of today’s customers for innovative, mobile, real-time and easy-to-use products.  The event included keynote speakers from Accenture and Burberry who reviewed the changes their organizations are grappling with, and how they have deployed tools, workflow, people management and metrics to transition to being secure, customer-centric and market driven.

One of the highlights of the day was Richard Fenning’s discussion of “Making Sense of Today’s Geopolitical Environment.  In his role as CEO of Control Risks, Richard provided a perspective of the key protagonists on the world stage (USA, Korea, Russia, China, Germany and the EU), and the impact of their posture on global markets, and the ability to do business internationally.  

The Roundtable took place during a week in which the CEO of Ford Motor Company, Mark Fields, was transitioned out of the company, as Ford shareholders failed to see the gains from Ford’s positioning as a “Mobility Company”.   This change highlighted the constraints faced by incumbent enterprises, with high profits but lower growth, as they deal with newer, high-growth companies, like Tesla who are riding the wave of sentiment around a digital future. 

As with other Insight Ignite Roundtables, the participants continued to network and discuss business issues after the day’s thought-leadership. In particular, the Grand Prix provided a strong backdrop to networking throughout the weekend – participants witnessed first-hand the technology prowess of the F1 teams, and the excitement of a Grand Prix race.  Congratulations to Ferrari who took 1st and 2nd place!
