Behind the Investment: Evinced

Accessibility in the digital age is no longer optional—it is essential. For the 1.3 billion people worldwide with disabilities, many digital experiences remain inaccessible, exposing businesses to risks and leaving users excluded. This lack of accessibility not only excludes a significant portion of the population but also exposes businesses to reputational and regulatory risks.

Evinced is addressing this critical challenge head-on. The company empowers enterprises to integrate digital accessibility — the practice of designing digital content and technology so that people with disabilities can use them without barriers — directly into their development workflows. This means that digital products can be built inclusively from the start.

We first met Evinced in July 2020, right after their initial launch, and immediately understood their vision to create new-age digital accessibility solutions that could keep pace with modern software development practices. We stayed in touch as they gained traction with early customers and, in 2022, stepped in to lead their Series B round. Today, Evinced has become an industry-leading “shift left” solution for digital accessibility, and we’re excited to lead a $55M Series C investment to further scale their impact.

The problem: Accessibility at scale

Digital transformation has revolutionized how some businesses interact with their customers. Yet, for people with disabilities, many digital experiences remain barriers rather than gateways. For example, imagine a visually impaired customer attempting to complete a critical transaction on their bank’s mobile app, only to find that their screen reader cannot navigate key elements of the interface. This failure not only creates frustration and exclusion but also erodes trust in the institution and exposes the business to significant compliance risks. Accessibility often becomes a reactive effort, creating delays, unnecessary costs, and compliance risks.

For large enterprises, ensuring accessibility across sprawling websites, apps, and services can be a monumental challenge—especially when relying on manual processes or outdated accessibility tools that don’t integrate with modern development workflows.

The stakes are high. Beyond the ethical imperative of inclusivity, businesses face mounting legal pressures and reputational risks if their digital offerings fail to meet accessibility standards. In the United States, the ADA has been used to enforce accessibility requirements, often referencing the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) as a benchmark in lawsuits and government instructions. Meanwhile, the European Union’s European Accessibility Act (EAA) sets forth clear directives for digital inclusivity. Together, these frameworks are driving a global push toward more accessible digital experiences, making it imperative for enterprises to adopt scalable, proactive solutions.

But how can enterprises shift from reactive fixes to proactive, scalable solutions?

The solution: Evinced’s prevention-first platform

Evinced can transform how enterprises approach accessibility. Their platform combines generative AI and machine learning to detect and resolve accessibility issues in real time. By embedding accessibility into the development lifecycle, Evinced empowers teams to address challenges proactively rather than retroactively. This prevention-first approach represents a paradigm shift for enterprises, making accessibility an integral part of product design and delivery.

The platform’s versatility is another standout feature. Supporting both web and mobile environments, Evinced drives accessibility extends across all digital touchpoints. Its seamless integration with CI/CD pipelines enables development, QA, and accessibility teams to work in harmony, promoting compliance and improving user experiences at scale.
